Work I’ve led, from the lab to research strategy.

These are the projects I’m most proud of, across research, spin-out companies, equipment purchasing and research funding. Each one taught me something about leading teams and getting complex work done.

  • EvolvX

A spin-out company I led with five team members. It used genetic algorithms to search for a better anti-inflammatory peptide drug.

  • CMAC

I bought £11.4m of scientific equipment for the Centre for Continuous Manufacture and Crystallisation, the largest purchase round in Strathclyde’s history.

  • Major Grants

I set up the policies and processes for large research funding schemes at the University of Sydney, to meet the rules of outside funders.

  • Catalysis

Research on organometallic chemistry and catalysis at Macquarie. It raised the group’s publication output and led to two MRes and one PhD completion.

  • Photocatalysis

Used titanium dioxide photocatalysts to make carbon centred radicals that form carbon-carbon bonds without tin hydrides.
